Tiny little Ava (Gina Bilyeu Photography, Nashville Newborn Photographer)

•July 9, 2009 • 2 Comments

I had the pleasure of photographing little Ava before she was even born!  Her mom and dad came to me for a maternity session and before I could even get those photos edited and posted, Ava decided she was ready to make her debute!  Five weeks early and weighing less than 5 lbs at her first session, she was a little angel!  Here are a few of my favorites from that session.

Enjoy!

I wanted to end the day with a few photos from one of my most recent newborn sessions – this little boy is just too precious!   And mom and dad were so sweet the whole time.  It takes a lot of patience when shooting a newborn session and they kept their cool the whole time.  They’re already old pros!

Here are a few of my favorite shots from a wedding I did recently at Scarritt Bennett.  Kelly and Terry were so adorable!  They chose to see each other before the ceremony and Terry was just so overcome, I cried too!  Of course, I was hiding behind a column with my camera like the paparazzi….

Tara Milam from Lavish Events (www.mylavishevent.com) did a fabulous job coordinating and decorating the wedding as well as the reception which was held at the Musicians Hall of Fame.  Check out the photos and see for yourself!

I always love the first dance and this one was no exception.

But I think this was the best Father/Daughter dance I’ve seen in a while.  They started out pretending to dance slow and traditional, but as you can see it didn’t end up that way!  They danced to “My Girl”.  It was great and Kelly’s dad was the sweetest thing!  He danced the night away!

Winston & Freya

•March 2, 2009 • 2 Comments

I have to say this was one of the coolest weddings I’ve ever photographed.  Winston and Freya seem to be a match made in heaven.  Not to sound to cliche’ but they complete each other.  This whole wedding was non-stop love, fun and friendship and I enjoyed every minute of it.  It never felt like work and I hope I get to take more photos of this family as it grows!

The totally awesome planner for this wedding was Austin Floyd of Last Minute Planners (www.lastminuteplanners.com).  Brides, you can’t go wrong when you have Austin and her team taking care of you.  I’ve had the opportunity to work with her a couple of times now and the day has always been flawless.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from that day.

The guys all “Had a little Captain in them”…..

Love this shot during their first dance….

And nothing says LOVE like a brand new pair of black, hi-top Chuck Taylors from the groom to the bride!

Here is another sample from one of my most recent sessions.  I’ve taken pictures of this adorable little man a few times now and I never seem to get the same expression twice from him!  He’s a little ball of energy and such a little cutie and a FLIRT!

He looks shy here but I can assure you, he’s not.  🙂  Mom and Dad are going to have their hands full!

I could possibly be the worst blogger out there!  I have this great new blog, business is great and I have the best customers I could possibly ask for….and I’ve only posted ONE blog since I started blogging!  Sad….I know.

But to make up for lost time, I’m going to post quite a few photos from some of my most favorite sessions of 2008 and a few from 2009.

Here’s a sneak peak!  This is little Bella.  She was 8 days old when her mom and big sister came to see me for pictures.  Isn’t she absolutely adorable?!

And you can certainly tell her big sister adores her.  She was so sweet with her the whole time.

Real Nashville Wedding: Irene and Mark

•October 16, 2008 • 1 Comment

Today, Irene and Mark’s wedding was featured on AshleysBrideGuide.com.

Here’s all about Irene’s elegant and intimate event. It was a great Nashville wedding and I was honored to play a role.

ginabweddingphoto1.jpg

About us:

Bride: Irene from Gulfport, MS

Groom: Mark from Bloomsburg, PA

My wedding details:

Wedding date & time: August 9, 2008 2:30PM

Ceremony and Reception location: Holy Family Catholic Church, Brentwood (small chapel)

Reception location: Cheekwood Museum of Art & Gardens

# guests: 20

ginabweddingphoto5.jpg

Wedding Style and Unique Touches:

My wedding style: I wanted the wedding to have a classic, timeless, and mostly an intimate feel to so the hair was worn down, the length of the bridesmaid dresses were cocktail length, the flowers were soft colors and textures. The Museum at Cheekwood reflected the overall style and was the inspiration for all the details.

ginabweddingphoto10.jpg

My colors and why I choose them: Blue, silver, and cream – I wanted something elegant and not overwhelming

Wedding wow factor: The table setting at the Loggia in the Museum with the beautiful flower arrangements in the crystal candelabras and all the candles I think “wowed” the guests the most. Also, many of the guests loved having the calligraphy used on the envelopes for our invitations. It is surprisingly affordable and added a lot to the invitations, which were simplistic in style.

ginabweddingphoto4.jpg

Favors: Goody bags filled with mini Nashville treats from Loveless Cafe

ginabweddingphoto8.jpg

Personal touches: Customizing the menu with Chef Paul at Cheekwood, hiring a calligrapher to address the envelopes for our invitations, renting a Hummer limo to make it easier for our guests and to spend more time with everyone (no one getting lost or having to worry about driving after all that partying), and making a weekend out of it for everyone to share and be a part of. Most of our guests were from out of town and some have never even met so we reserved a block of rooms at the Doubletree downtown for the entire weekend. This way everyone could see most of what Nashville is famous for and get to know one another.

Most special moment for me: Having all our closest friends and family members there enjoying the wedding and one another.

The kids in my wedding… Our two boys entertaining us with a very special concert and the baby, our nephew, having fun with the special “kids” menu we customized for them.

My Faves:

I highly recommend Gina Bilyeu, our wedding photographer, Ashley at The Paper Place, and Mark/Carrie at the Tulip Tree, our florist – they were all exceptional and so great to work with as was all our vendors but I worked with these 3 places the most (and probably demanded the most from these three).

My Wedding Rewind:

What I would do differently if planning again? I’m a procrastinator so planning a little more in advance might have saved us some money and stress. We planned the wedding ourselves in about 3 months, there were a lot of extra “rush” fees included that could have been avoided.

Biggest waste of time or money? Nothing, everything was worth it.

Best value for the service/product? Gina Bilyeu – I searched tons of photographers in the Nashville area. Pictures or capturing memories from a wedding will last forever so it was one of the most important aspects but also I found out while researching could be the most expensive. I feel extremely fortunate that we were able to find Gina out the hundreds of photographers to choose from at such a reasonable price for really beautiful work. I don’t think anyone could have been better.

Neatest find? Each other
